To my ears, it's competitive with external pre's in the $300 - $500 range. My only complaint is the MC gain at 52db, it's a little bit less than I would like for MC, something like 58db would be more in line with the majority. Good to know compared to $300-500.

I replaced my Parasound D/AC-2000 with an older modified Monarchy D22 DAC, which I thought was a bit more musical.
