I usually do the first 10 before I turn base, next 10 on the base, then last 10-20 on final (depending if I need them or not). I also use 80 for Vy, and use 65 for Vx. Web15 Oct 2014 · I have never even come close to the end of the runway. Not even halfway there on a stupid hot day. In any airplane I've tried. 152, 172 (three flavors), 177, 182, Warrior and Archer (II, just like yours) were all tried. So on my PPL Check ride my DPE failed me because I was using the incorrect flap setting on my soft field landing. I was using 20 degrees of flaps instead of 30, because this is what I was trained to do on my soft field landings. DPE says it should have been full flaps and my CFI says 20 degrees is what should be used.
